One of the best parts about gaming these days is discovering all the little gems and references developers disguise into their creations. Going on these little treasure hunts can be a game in of itself, which is why such secrets have been dubbed “Easter Eggs”. Among Us continues this tradition and is chock full of hidden references. Developer Innersloth has found creative places in their tiny Among Us world to inject some of their personal favorite references, from movies, games, and other pop culture forms.
Some require a keen eye to find while others are hidden in plain sight. The SQUAB team has gone through them all and here are the top 10 Among Us Easter Eggs you’ve probably missed.
[Spoiler Alert] If you’re a Boomer like me and watched The Thing (1982), you know that the film bears a similar plot to Among Us, one of having an Imposter – an alien monster - among a team of crewmates in an isolated area. At one point, the crewmates from The Thing even debate on who the Impostor is. Whether or not they picked the right Impostor, you’ll have to watch the movie to find out.
If you’ve played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild you’re surely familiar with the Koroks. Those lovable little critters sent you through their own wild goose chase across Hyrule to find all 99 of them only to end up being rewarded with...a poop. 💩
Love them or hate them, this somehow managed to find its way into Among Us. 😂 You’ll have to take a close look at the third pot when you do the plant watering task in order to spot the little rascal.
The little green slimy aliens from Futurama are still out there trying to keep their population levels up. In fact, they’re disguising themselves as anything they can in a bid to try to possess our brains. There’s even one in Among Us, hanging out as a keychain. You can find it attached to the key when attempting to open the doors to the dropship.
Shhh, be vewy vewy quiet, I’m hunting Impostows. You’ll feel compelled to say this in Among Us when you equip the tall hunter’s hat that iconic Looney Tunes character Elmer Fudd must have forgotten. And if the design doesn’t ring a bell, then you’re not old enough.
When you catch an Impostor on the Polus map and toss them into the burning lava, you know they’ll definitely not be back. That doesn’t stop them, though, from thinking that they will as they give you a thumbs up just like Arnold Schwarzenegger did at the end of Terminator 2. Oops, spoiler! 🤣🤣
Crewmates in Among Us have high standards, especially when it comes to their equipment. Even though sabotage can still happen, having a few branded monitors goes a long way. By playing around with some of them, you’ll find one monitor called Simsong which is quite easy to spot. The other one, Bell, is a bit harder to spot as the spoofed Dell logo lies in the bottom left corner of the computer monitor in the Security room.
Who remembers DVD players? The devs of Among Us certainly do and apparently have an appreciation for their iconic bouncing screensaver. You’ll find this one in the Admin on Polus by checking out the screen.
Seriously, does every QR code out there lead to something? Apparently so, even in Among Us. When scanning your ID, the QR code can be scanned with your phone will give you a Will Smith line from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air that says “Yo holmes, smell you later”.
He cleans up our entire planet. He gets the fat people off the floaty chairs. He continues to capture our hearts in Among Us as a pet. If you’re not choosing Wall-E as your partner in crime, then you surely have no heart.
It wouldn’t be a PuffballsUnited game without a gazillion references to Henry Stickmin, the titular character of his own series and games. You can have him as a pet or a hat. He’s in several posters across the game. You can even find a bunch of Henry’s stuff, such as his personal teleporter and his NRG drink. Quite frankly, once you see him a few times, you can’t unsee him!
